I stopped blogging because I felt that the outlet was no longer working for me. I no longer had interest in keeping a this small subset of persons updated daily on my happenings. Facebook performs part of the job, a showcase much better suited for friends to ogle at dozens of one's photos. Facebook also allows people to keep updated on my happenings.

Paulossities was most recently meant to record "artistic developments", something for which Facebook seems not as well suited.

A blog is only as good as its output, and to that end I've not been making updates. It may be that soon, more will come.

UPDATE FROM THE ARTIST
1. The walls in my apartment are five inch thick concrete with plaster overlay.
2. I purchased drill not strong enough.
3. Hired carpenter who installed photo onto wall this evening.

I am learning to read and write Chinese. I have drawn some Chinese on this image your viewing pleasure.

ASPIRATIONS FROM THE ARTIST

A. Vision remains the same; to mount above photo onto metal backing.
B. I remain unsure about purpose, length, format, content, vision, and determination of authoring a photo book.
C. I have an idea for next wall hanging.

Week 22: Shame is the source of my anxiety. (and a photo update)

I've had 10 sessions with therapist Susan and have made progress towards making bad thoughts go away and become a healthier person. Recent insights:

• Susan argued that 'laziness' was not a valid reason for skipping the gym. She argued that being 'lazy' was the result of other factors, like being tired or depressed or unmotivated. It is an insight that 'lazy' is not a very accurate word.
• Susan drew on 20 years of experience to tell me something : She has determined that I regularly subject myself to shame, and stopping that behavior will fully resolve my anxiety problems. We now focus on shame more than anxiety. I agree and this constitutes progress.
• Susan gives useful homework, usually specific reflection, which is good.
• Thought processes are hard to change.

I am back with Kelly. This is happy.

I take great joy in blogging, but recently I think about *why* I blog and the *content* of what I blog. Also, I have been working FUCKING HARD on photos; I will share the progress soon.

I am working towards a book but aspirations must be weighed with realistic effort.

There ordered print has not arrived yet.

I have imported all photos into Aperture and Aperture is managing the photo locations. This means I no longer have my old directory tree; the photos are obfuscated in other places on my drive.

(This bad boy has 21,203 photos --- all of them!)

Like all data, the Aperture library is replicated twice (offsite + onsite) for backup. I am presently not concerned of data loss due to an Aperture incident or Mac problem; I anticipate a migration from Aperture in several years' time (when something else comes).

Adopting metadata on photos reminds me of tagging mp3 files back in 1998. Perhaps I am too early an adopter; I am certain the day will come when photo software can tag photos with values such as: person, location, focus bad, water/tree/dog, etc

Aperture can make books. I am working to choose photos from Aperture and anticipate adapting text from blogs.

Reader Ajey has convinced me that my poop is not effective artwork.

I don't know how to mount metal frame onto a plaster wall, but I'll find out.

I maintain that having my photos in Aperture with ratings & metadata is a worthwhile project. This will form input for book & portfolio.

Apprenticeship is a fun way to learn.

Ajey told me again what others have told me: Stop worrying so much. ---> FUCK ME!~

ARTWORK 1:
Today I ordered below photo as a canvas print, sized 2x3 feet (huge!). The vision is to mount the photo onto a metallic blue metal lattice framework. In fact, the lattice will be ordered from a shop which makes 'push carts' for Hong Kong business; the base of such push cart will form the large frame behind this picture. This is an investment but I hope it works.

I PRAY that the gamma is OK on the print.

ARTWORK 2:
A woman named Joy, hired to stand next to a label bearing the same name. (This is brilliant)

ARTWORK 3:
Vague idea ... having to do with the pink neon lights and posters used in the dodgy parts of my neighborhood... to advertise prostitution, brothels, etc .....

ARTWORK 4:
My poop in a plastic medical container. This will represent the remarkable state of my artistic ego.
